DIRTY LITTLE FRIDAYS
WITH ALL THE DEAD BOYS ..................
1.9.2026 DOUG

HAPPY FRIDAY!
How’s everyone’s 2026 so far? I’m back in NYC this week before heading out of the country on Monday for the sweaty sunshine of Brazilian summer.
.
It’s 6 am on Friday, January 9th, and I’m sitting down to work on this week’s DIRTY LITTLE FRIDAY for the first time.
Usually, I at least have a draft of something at this point.
But this week I wasn’t even sure who I was gonna send your way.
.
At 5.45 am (I’m in a really strange sleep cycle at the moment), I sat down, plugged in one of my 2025 drives, and scanned the list of the guys.
Landed on Doug.
.

When I searched my inbox for a DIRTY LITTLE FRIDAY with Doug, I was surprised to realize I hadn’t sent him your way before.
.
Or have I? When my last newsletter platform booted me off, I lost the archive tracking all my previous emails. I know I posted him on my IG for my BACKWOODS BOYS series…
So anyway, enjoy Doug :) He was a dream to shoot and showed up with such great leather gear to shoot in. He’s a very busy boy, but hopefully we’ll get to shoot together again.

Now - onto something I’ve been thinking about sharing with you for a while…
.
Waaaay back in 1998, I was starting to get some of my first jobs as a baby photographer. My friend Dan Lori was the new creative director at OUT magazine, and I approached him with a crazy idea.
I wanted to do a serialized, comic book style visual story - but with photographs collaged in the style of my ever-evolving inspiration cork boards.
And I wanted John Rechy to write the story.
.
John Rechy is the author of one of my favorite novels of all time, CITY OF NIGHT. It’s a fictionalized account of his years as a male hustler in NYC and LA, and it’s one of the very first (openly, explicitly) gay novels. CITY OF NIGHT was instrumental in helping develop my visual and storytelling ‘aesthetic’. I can clearly trace my love for sexy, dangerous boys in seedy motels to this novel. I can’t recommend it highly enough.
.
Dan loved the idea, and when we tracked down Johnn at his home in the Hollywood Hills, he was game.
And YELLOW HAZE was born.
.
It’s probably one of my favorite projects I’ve ever made.
.
.
More on how it all came together next week, but for now, here’s PART ONE of YELLOW HAZE.
.
If you’re on your phone, you might want to check out YELLOW HAZE on ALL THE DEAD BOYS dot com, where it’s much easier to read the text.
.
Has anyone read CITY OF NIGHT? Or maybe you’ve read THE FOURTH ANGEL my other favorite of his, which I’ve always dreamed of doing as a play…
.
.
.
As usual, thanks for being here.
I really do appreciate it.
