HAPPY FRIDAY
Thanks to everyone who replied last week.
Your emails made for warmer, cozier blizzard vibes, and were very much appreciated.
The whole idea of containers seemed to hit a note with so many of you, and it was great to hear about how you use containers to keep yourselves on track.
.
This week has been full of Zoom calls and script work on my front and center ‘container’ HEADLOCK.
Which is why I chose Eric for this week.
.
.
I’ve shot Eric a bunch of times over the last few years. The first project I wrote with him in mind was SUCKERS - which sadly hasn’t happened (yet).
.
But as we were developing HEADLOCK (Johnny Berchtold and I wrote the script together), I started to imagine Eric in one of the roles.
.
I love to write with specific actors in mind.
Especially if that actor is someone you already know you love working with.
.
For now, you can see (a whole lot) more of him on my Patreon, and before you know it, you’ll be able to see him in HEADLOCK.
.
Ok - it might not be ‘before you know it’ but hopefully it won’t be toooo long:) and I have hope, considering what a fast track this entire project seems to be on.

Eric is also one of the BACKWOODS BOYS who’s getting their own zine.
.
I’m thinking of these zines as sort of love letters to some of my favorite guys.
The ones that continue to inspire every time we shoot.

The ‘muses’.
The current lineup of BACKWOODS BOYS zines includes Eric, Dan, Kodiak, and Raury.

ALL BANGERS.
All shot here in Maine. All as dirty and dangerous as you might hope.

I just got my test print of the first zine, and I’m hoping to get them all ordered and printed to be ready once we wrap on the film in April.
Sorry, but I don’t think I can handle releasing a series of zines while in the thick of making a film :)

A DESERT is streaming on Shudder (and rentable on other platforms, or you could get the bluray from Vinegar Syndrome, like I did ;).
It’s arthouse horror at its best, with one of the most shocking sequences in recent memory that hits like a punch in the gut at about the midway point. Highly recommend this one. I guarantee it will take you by surprise if you stick with it.
