HAPPY FRIDAY

Hope everyone’s had a good week.

It’s been hot and swampy here in NYC as expected, but I’ve been mostly inside my dark apartment with the AC cranked, working on the edit.

We’re still just pulling selects, but it’s so exciting to see these characters come to life as we piece together the beats of our scenes beat by beat.

.

It’s gonna be a long, hot HEADLOCK summer.

.

.

I did do a lot of movie watching this week.

.

I’d gotten some tickets to screenings at Tribeca (MUTTER, BREEDER, and RECLUSE - but more on those later) and then got an invite to what is probably my most anticipated movie of the summer…

LEVITICUS

It opens next week (June 19th), and if you like anything I’m up to here with DIRTY LITTLE FRIDAYS or ALL THE DEAD BOYS, you’re gonna want to check it out.

It’s queer.

It’s horror.

It’s beautiful.

It’s fucking scary and unexpected, and I wasn’t one step ahead of it as the story unfolded.

I have no idea how wide the release is, but it’s Neon, so hopefully you’ll be able to find it.

Because yes, OBSESSION and BACKROOMS are great, but if you want more indie queer horror, you gotta show up at the theater with your dollars and let the ‘industry’ know.

Also this week - the New York Queer Zine Fair opened up submissions.

.

I’ve never done a zine fair.

I’ve only done one zine so far.

But I’ve been to the NY Queer Zine Fair a couple of times and always fantasized about having an AL THE DEAD BOYS table there.

So I’m going to apply.

.

I have no idea how easy or difficult it is to get selected to take part - especially since I’m not primarily a ‘zine maker‘, but the fair isn’t until October 4th, and by then I’ll have all the BACKWOODS BOYS zines ready to go.

Part of the application process is sending in a pic of ‘your table’.

Or a mock-up of your table.

Well, as I’ve never done one of these before, I don’t have any pics like that, so I’ve been imagining what an ALL THE DEAD BOYS zine table might look like.

And scouring the internet for inspiration.

.

Thinking about exactly how to mock up a potential table.

Does anyone have any experience at Zine fests or something similar?

Any advice?

I’m about to close the blinds and settle in for another dark day of editing…

It was a neck-and-neck race for second place in my WHO DO YOU WANT TO SEE NEXT poll from a few weeks ago, but Gino edged ahead with only 7 more votes than Mr third place.

I’ve shot Gino a bunch of times now, and though I follow him on IG and know he go-gos all over the city, I realized I’ve never actually seen him dance.

Maybe this is the summer when that finally happens.
