HAPPY FRIDAY THE 13TH!

You guys are the best.

As soon as I hit SEND last week, I got nervous that I sounded too mopey and whiney. The last thing I wanna do is send downer vibes your Friday way.

But your replies gave me the warm fuzzies, so thank you.

It’s still gray here - though it did get nice for a few days before the wall of oppressive grey came back - but that extra hour of daylight (and reading your emails) made it a bit less melancholic.

I loved hearing your tactics for combating the winter blues - or as one of you put it, “perfect weather for getting your heart kicked in.”

Sun lamps.

Silly pop music.

Super sad novels.

Sexy selfies.

One reply really hit home.

That’s the sort of response my therapist would say to file away in a special folder for dipping into when I’m feeling down.

It’s so good to know that some of you get as much from receiving these emails as I get from making them.

I know lots of you are just here for the dick pics, and that’s fine too ;)

But feeling less alone…?

That’s what starting DIRTY LITTLE FRIDAYS was all about.

I knew there were other people out there who liked the same dark and dingy version of queer that I did.

But I wasn’t sure how to find them.

I figured maybe if I started sending out weekly signals into the internet void, some of you might find me.

P.S.

“Sending 🍌” is meant to be a bit ambiguous.

If you’ve ever replied to a DIRTY LITTLE FRIDAY with a 🍌, you know what you get...

But some guys have taken it to mean I’m asking for smutty selfies (which wasn’t my intention, but it’s fine by me:)

I haven’t ever included any of those selfies in a DIRTY LITTLE FRIDAYS (and never would without asking first), but these Sharpie shots that @bighippietwink sent me were too good (and inspiring in their sloppy messiness) not to share.

Have you seen my short film YEARBOOK?

I made it as a pitch piece to get the job directing the film adaptation of Charles Burns BLACK HOLE (I didn’t get the job). But it ended up playing at Sundance, and they still haven’t made BLACK HOLE, so I suppose there’s still hope…
